First, we should start with this video…
2000. Remember this gem? Twins Evan and Jaron hit the pop mainstream in the early 2000s and had their stint of the limelight due to great tunes and the assist of Dawson’s Creek. In my opinion, they deserved more attention, but those were the days of major label pushes and no digital music. They had an album before hand, but I don’t recall ever getting the chance to check it out. (I wonder if it is on iTunes now – Jaron?). My favorite release was actually a follow up EP, Half Dozen. This collection of songs felt a little more authentic and gave a glimpse of what the brothers could do on their own (without the big pressures).
Fast forward about 10 years (maybe more), to when I got word (by way of a blog or something), that Jaron (of Evan and Jaron) would be releasing a country album under the moniker Jaron and the Long Road to Love. The first release that I got to hear was “Pray for You” which was a tongue and cheek response to songs that are typically sung by women wishing the worst for their former lovers. Way to go to Jaron for breaking into that genre with a hit when it is typically such a tough market. The song was so cool, they got to make two videos for it. Definitely worth a viewing (some funny stuff). Oh, and Jaime Pressly is in it too.

1. Petals Back On The Rose
2. Meantime Girl
3. Beat Back Love
4. Without Her Leaving
5. It’s A Good Thing
6. Without A Woman I Love
7. Kill Me For Loving You
8. I Hope You Hit Traffic
9. Pray For You
10. That’s Beautiful To Me
His album Getting Dressed in the Dark is definitely worth a listen. I’m not sure whats happening on the label side, but as a fan, I think Jaron is doing the right thing. For awhile, he was doing a series on YouTube called “Wednesdays No Longer Suck” which involved either cover songs or originals on video for all the fans to enjoy. In addition, Jaron is big on the social media scene and tries to connect as much as he can with his fans. Hats off to Jaron for that.
While this is all happening, his brother Evan took part in starting another great thing, Stageit.com. I have checked out Graham Colton, Ryan Hamner and tonight, Marc Broussard on the site that allows for an awesome fan experience.
On to the recommendations — certainly check out “Pray for You”, “That’s Beautiful to Me” (video had Kristen Cavallari) in it), and “Meantime Girl”.
