[This is for my grandmother]

You are loved....by my grandmother

Josh Groban is unofficially my grandmother’s boyfriend. And today is his 31st birthday. She has shirts, signed posters, CDs, DVDs, DVR recordings, Ornaments, coffee mugs, etc. She’s the first one to share how Josh was on this show or that show. She told me that I should tweet him happy birthday for her – instead I shall blog and then tweet. She could potentially be one of Josh Groban’s biggest fans…and sometimes I am a bit jealous.

Years ago, my grandmother would only listen to talk radio. Eventually I got her listening to some music and sharing some new finds that I was enjoying at the time. (She rather enjoys “country and western” – which I crack up at whenever she says it). In fact, this winter I got her the Josh Kelley “Georgia Clay” album and the last two Lady Antebellum albums. Gotta keep her current.

So, back to years ago – one day she saw a special where Josh Groban appeared. She was hooked. She immediately found out where to buy his CD and how to press repeat over and over again on her stereo. She will strike up random conversations about Josh with whoever will listen. She is the first one to tell you when she doesn’t like his new hairstyle or the fact that he didn’t shave today. Or his album cover. Or, on the flip side, she is the one saying she needs 12 different picture frames so that she can cut up the calendar from last year and hang his pictures all over her walls. In fact, one time she said “I wish it was October every month”. Mainly because her boyfriend, Joshy Woshie, looked good on that particular month.

She has been to four Josh Groban concerts. The two that I took her to, she was like a teenage girl at a New Kids on the Block concert. She has bad feet, but ran down the stairs faster than who knows what when he started walking in front of the crowd. She just wanted to get closer and wave.

I hope someday I can get my almost 80 year old grandmother to meet Josh Groban. Perhaps this will be my goal for the next few years. I know she wouldn’t know what to do with herself, but truly, it would make my life to see her meet him.

For me, I enjoy Josh Groban. One of my favorite tracks from his latest album is, “If I Walk Away”…

Happy Birthday Josh Groban (Joshy Woshie) from Grandma G.
