Today I was talking a friend of mine and after she said she had a good day she mentioned that she was crying. So, of course I ask what was wrong…

Her response: “Just watching One Tree Hill”

My response: “oh”

I guess we all have a different idea of movies and shows that cause tears.

There is one movie that I can always go to if someone needs something that will drain them emotionally…

If you can handle a movie that will make you cry, scream, throw things, nauseate you, aggravate you, infuriate you, and more, than you should certainly see The Stoning of Soraya M. Even if you think you might only be able to handle some of it, I still recommend that it makes its way into your queue.

This movie is a foreign film released in 2008 (yes, subtitles). At the time it was released, I wanted to see it in the theaters, however after seeing it, I was glad that I waited until it was on DVD. The film tells the story of an Iranian woman who meets an American journalist and wants to tell the story of what has happened in her village. Another Iranian woman, Soraya M. is accused of adultery when her husband decides he no longer wants to be married to her and wants to marry a younger woman in the village. The story follows Soraya M.’s plight to have others believe her truth. However, this true story does not end well. Hint – title of movie.

I recommend this movie to everyone. It will most likely always remain at the top of my list for movies that drain every emotion at once. Grab a box of tissues.
